Your data is yours.
ChemSite is built to organize and publish business-critical product information, and customers trust it with nonpublic catalogs, technical documents, inquiries and account information. HEXNET also develops commercial intelligence from permitted market observations. Our approach protects your source information while allowing appropriately protected observations to contribute to broader market signals.
As between you and HEXNET, you retain your rights in the catalogs, documents, product information and website content you provide. Using ChemSite does not transfer ownership of that source data to HEXNET.
We do not expose your identifiable confidential business information to another ChemSite customer except at your direction, as expressly authorized, or where required by law.
Information you direct ChemSite to publish is public by design. Information you keep nonpublic is treated as confidential business information.
This statement describes our security and data-handling approach. It does not replace the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, a Data Processing Addendum or a negotiated enterprise security agreement.
What you publish is public. Your nonpublic business data stays protected.
You choose what ChemSite publishes to your website. Information you keep nonpublic within ChemSite is treated as confidential business information and is processed as needed to provide, secure, maintain, support and improve the Service, and to exercise the permitted data and intelligence rights described in the Terms and Privacy Policy.

Protect the identifiable source observation. Learn from the broader signal.
HEXNET commercial intelligence is built from fragmented market signals. Depending on the Service and available data, a permitted observation may concern a product, market, demand signal, supply signal, price, quantity, availability, geography, inquiry, catalog change or other commercial event. Individual observations may be combined with other permitted information to create aggregated, statistical, de-identified, normalized, modeled, benchmarked, inferred or otherwise derived intelligence.
- 01A permitted observation
A product, price, quantity, inquiry, catalog change or other commercial event. Protected as source information.
- 02Combined with other permitted information
From other customers, ChemSource, other HEXNET products, and public and licensed sources.
- 03Derived intelligence
Trends, benchmarks, indexes, demand signals and supply signals, designed not to identify the contributing customer.
Unless you expressly authorize otherwise, HEXNET does not expose your identifiable:
- Transaction-level pricing
- Quantities
- Counterparties
- Negotiated terms
- Private inquiries
- Confidential commercial relationships
Source observations may still be retained securely where reasonably necessary to calculate, validate, audit, reproduce, update, improve or defend the resulting intelligence. De-identifying an output does not necessarily mean deleting the underlying protected record.
AI assists. You decide what gets published.
ChemSite may use AI-assisted workflows to organize catalogs, extract information from documents, classify products, identify relationships, draft content, improve search and perform other requested tasks. When a requested function needs it, information may be processed by a third-party AI service provider.
Processing information to perform a task you asked for is different from training a general-purpose model. Our intended policy is not to use your confidential information to train general-purpose AI models, and not to permit our AI providers to use it for general-purpose model training. This does not prevent HEXNET from creating Derived Intelligence, using Service Data or using appropriately de-identified information as permitted by the Terms.
- 01You request a task
Organize a catalog, read a new TDS, suggest where a product belongs.
- 02The information is processed to do it
Including by a third-party AI provider when the function requires it.
- 03Your team reviews the output
AI-assisted output can be incomplete or inaccurate. Review technical, safety and regulatory information before relying on or publishing it.
How we protect ChemSite.
ChemSite uses account and authorization boundaries designed to prevent one customer from accessing another customer's nonpublic catalogs, documents, inquiries or account information.
Information sent between your browser and ChemSite travels over encrypted HTTPS connections.
HEXNET intends to limit internal access to customer information to personnel and service providers who need it to operate, secure, support or improve ChemSite, fulfill your requests or perform authorized processing.
ChemSite relies on specialized providers for functions that may include cloud hosting, storage, databases, content delivery, AI processing, authentication, email, analytics, monitoring, security, support and payments. Providers may process customer information only as necessary to provide their services to HEXNET and subject to applicable contractual obligations.
HEXNET will investigate suspected security incidents affecting systems under its control and take reasonable steps to contain and remediate confirmed incidents. Where applicable law or a contractual obligation requires customer notification, HEXNET will provide notice in accordance with those requirements.
Security is an ongoing process, and no internet service, transmission method or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Your team plays a part:
- Use strong, unique credentials and protect account access.
- Grant access only to authorized users and remove access when no longer needed.
- Keep connected third-party systems and credentials secure.
- Review what information is intended to be public before publishing it.
- Report suspected compromise or security issues promptly.
- Maintain appropriate technical, safety, regulatory, quality and product-information review.
