ChemSite Privacy and Data Use Notice

Effective November 2, 2026A HEXNET, Inc. product

This Privacy Policy explains how HEXNET, Inc. ("HEXNET," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with ChemSite websites, Early Access requests, accounts, support, and the ChemSite platform.

This Policy also explains how data generated through ChemSite may contribute to aggregated, de-identified, statistical, and derived commercial intelligence. The ChemSite Terms of Service contain the contractual definitions and rights governing Customer Content, Commercial Observations, Service Data, and Derived Intelligence.

1 Roles and Scope

For information HEXNET collects for account administration, sales, support, website operations, security, analytics, and our own business purposes, HEXNET may act as a business or controller. For certain personal information a ChemSite customer submits for processing on its behalf, HEXNET may act as a service provider or processor, and the customer may control the purposes of that processing.

If your personal information was provided to ChemSite by one of our customers and we process it solely on that customer's behalf, you may need to contact that customer to exercise rights concerning the information.

2 Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account and profile information, such as name, business email, company, role, login information, and preferences.

  • Early Access, sales, and inquiry information, including company website, catalog size, plan interest, business needs, and messages.

  • Customer Content, including catalogs, product information, technical documents, website content, images, files, instructions, inquiries, contact records, and other information submitted to or connected with ChemSite.

  • Support and communications information, including correspondence and information provided when requesting assistance.

  • Billing and transaction information for paid services. Payment-card information may be handled directly by a payment provider rather than stored by HEXNET.

Information collected automatically

  • Device, browser, IP address, operating system, language, and similar technical information.

  • Usage and feature-interaction information, including pages viewed, functions used, navigation paths, timestamps, searches, and interactions with ChemSite.

  • Security and diagnostic information, including authentication events, errors, system logs, and information used to detect abuse or protect the Service.

  • Cookies and similar-technology information where those technologies are used.

Information from customers, integrations, and other sources

Customers may connect or provide information from websites, spreadsheets, ERPs, PIMs, CRMs, analytics systems, document repositories, and other sources. We may receive information from service providers and from public, licensed, or other permitted sources used to operate ChemSite and HEXNET commercial-intelligence services.

3 How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, host, maintain, secure, and support ChemSite.

  • Create and administer accounts, authenticate users, and manage permissions.

  • Process Early Access requests, subscriptions, billing, and customer relationships.

  • Organize, process, publish, search, and manage Customer Content as directed by customers.

  • Provide AI-assisted features, integrations, and requested workflows.

  • Provide support, troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and improve the Service.

  • Detect fraud, abuse, security threats, and unlawful activity, and enforce our agreements.

  • Comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and security of customers, users, HEXNET, and others.

  • Create and use Service Data, aggregated information, de-identified information, Commercial Observations, and Derived Intelligence as described below and in the Terms of Service.

4 Commercial Observations and Market Intelligence

HEXNET provides commercial intelligence for the chemical industry. Lawful observations generated through ChemSite may contribute to broader market signals and intelligence when used subject to the protections described here and in the Terms of Service.

Depending on the information available through the Service, Commercial Observations may concern products, markets, demand, supply, pricing, quantities, availability, geography, sourcing activity, inquiries, response activity, catalog activity, and other commercial conditions. We may combine permitted observations with information from other customers, ChemSource, other HEXNET products, public sources, licensed sources, and other permitted sources to create Derived Intelligence.

Derived Intelligence may include aggregated, statistical, de-identified, anonymized, normalized, modeled, benchmarked, inferred, scored, indexed, or otherwise derived analytics, trends, signals, datasets, and market intelligence. HEXNET may use and commercialize Derived Intelligence for lawful business purposes.

Our market-intelligence products are not intended to disclose a ChemSite customer's identifiable confidential transactions or commercial relationships. Unless the customer authorizes otherwise, we do not expose a customer's identifiable transaction-level pricing, quantities, counterparties, negotiated terms, private inquiries, or confidential commercial relationships to other customers through Derived Intelligence.

We may retain protected source records and observations where reasonably necessary to create, validate, audit, reproduce, update, improve, or defend Derived Intelligence. Aggregating or de-identifying an intelligence output does not necessarily mean the underlying protected source record is immediately deleted.

5 Public Website Content

ChemSite customers choose what content they direct ChemSite to publish. Information published to a customer's public website is public and may be viewed, indexed, cached, copied, or processed by third parties, including search engines and AI systems outside HEXNET's control.

Nonpublic Customer Content is handled under the Terms of Service, this Policy, customer instructions, and our security practices. Customers are responsible for determining whether they have the rights and lawful basis necessary to provide information to ChemSite and publish it.

6 AI-Assisted Features

ChemSite may use AI and machine-learning technologies for catalog organization, extraction, classification, document processing, content assistance, search, analysis, and other requested workflows. Information may be transmitted to third-party AI service providers when necessary to perform a requested function.

Our intended policy is not to use Customer Confidential Information to train general-purpose AI models or permit our AI providers to use it for general-purpose model training.

Processing information to perform a requested AI function is different from training a general-purpose model. The training restriction also does not prohibit HEXNET from creating Derived Intelligence under the Terms, using Service Data, or using appropriately de-identified information for security, analytics, research, and product improvement, subject to applicable law.

7 How We Disclose Information

We do not disclose one ChemSite customer's identifiable Customer Confidential Information to another ChemSite customer except at the customer's direction, as expressly authorized, or where required by law. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers and subprocessors that support hosting, storage, databases, content delivery, AI processing, email, analytics, monitoring, authentication, security, support, and payments.

  • Customer-authorized integrations and third-party services when a customer directs ChemSite to exchange information with them.

  • Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers, and consultants where reasonably necessary.

  • Legal, safety, and security circumstances where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or the integrity of the Service.

  • Corporate transactions such as a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law and confidentiality obligations.

  • With the relevant customer's or individual's consent or direction.

  • Derived Intelligence, market analytics, benchmarks, and similar outputs that satisfy the protections described in Section 4.

8 Cookies and Analytics

ChemSite may use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, performance, analytics, and operation of the Service. Where applicable law requires consent for nonessential technologies, we will provide appropriate choices.

9 Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide ChemSite, administer customer relationships, maintain records, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect security, maintain backups, and exercise the data and Derived Intelligence rights described in the Terms.

Retention periods vary by information type, account status, customer instructions, legal requirements, security needs, backup practices, and whether information is needed to validate or reproduce Derived Intelligence. Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove information from backups or records retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, compliance, or permitted intelligence purposes.

Where HEXNET processes personal information solely as a processor for a customer, retention is subject to applicable processor obligations, customer instructions, and law.

10 Security

HEXNET uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information and Customer Content against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. No transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. The ChemSite Data Security statement provides additional information about our security approach.

11 Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and how we process your information, applicable law may provide rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information, and to request information about certain processing or disclosures. Some laws may also provide opt-out or appeal rights.

We may verify identity and authority before completing a request. Certain information may be exempt, and we may retain information where permitted or required by law. If information is controlled by a ChemSite customer, we may direct you to that customer or assist the customer in responding.

12 U.S. State Privacy Disclosures

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights. HEXNET does not intend to operate ChemSite as a data broker selling identifiable personal information. If our activities become subject to statutory definitions of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, profiling, or similar regulated processing, we will provide disclosures and choice mechanisms required by applicable law.

Commercial market intelligence concerning businesses, products, supply, demand, pricing, and market conditions is distinct from selling identifiable personal information, but privacy law may still apply where an underlying record relates to an identifiable individual.

13 International Processing

ChemSite is operated by HEXNET in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where HEXNET or its providers operate. Where required, we will use appropriate mechanisms for international transfers. Enterprise customers with specific requirements may request additional contractual terms where appropriate.

14 Children

ChemSite is a business service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through ChemSite. If we learn that information was collected from a child in circumstances requiring consent and no valid consent exists, we will take appropriate steps consistent with law.

15 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as ChemSite, HEXNET products, data practices, and applicable law evolve. We will post the current version with its effective date and provide additional notice where required by law. The commercial-intelligence and Derived Intelligence practices described here are part of the initial ChemSite data-use framework.

16 Contact

Privacy questions and requests may be submitted through the privacy or contact information published on ChemSite.io.
